Process Engineer – Plastic Injection Molding

Primary Responsibilities:

1) Engineering - Oversee projects,

2) Works with Quality Control on verification of acceptability of parts from new / repaired tooling

3) Process Engineering – Plastic Injection Molding and Plastics Molding

Engineering - Oversee projects - new parts from beginning of project to hand-off to production:

  • Generates and maintains engineering drawings for all manufactured parts
  • Issues RFQ’s for new and repaired tooling used to manufacture parts
  • Determines acceptable suppliers for procurement of tooling
  • Submits Purchase Order Request for review and approval
  • Tracks the current status / progress versus the PO’s due date for tooling
  • Performs Incoming Tool Inspections for new and repaired tooling

Process Engineering – Plastic Injection Molding and Plastics Molding:

  • Defines the equipment / machines to be used
  • Defines and optimizes the manufacturing process
  • Specifies the machine settings
  • Identifies special tools, equipment or supplies needed for manufacturing the part
  • Perform preliminary time studies to establish the molding process capacity

Work with the Engineering Coordinator in the development of the Process Specification



  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with injection molding and bonding elastomers to metal, as well as an understanding of the chemistry of plastic and the physics of plastic flow.
  • Ability to read detailed mechanical drawings and understands technical specifications.
  • Ability to learn complicated machinery and processes.
  • Ability to use mathematics including decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to apply mathematical principles to solve problems.
