Simulation Engineering Manager

The Simulation Engineer Manager will accelerate our implementation of finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and dynamic systems modeling (DSM) for design validations and performance predictions. This role will be responsible for leading a cultural shift to vetting designs with simulation before cutting parts, performing, and reporting on analysis of product designs, providing insight on whether a proposed design will meet the desired specifications. There will be a focus on identifying and closing gaps in our simulation capabilities to improve accuracy while reducing development and simulation time. In addition, this role will be responsible for managing and growing an international team of simulation engineers. They will provide technical direction on best practices and skills development for the simulation team. The role will also work with customers to develop high fidelity models of valves and systems for use in their own simulations, while protecting the critical IP of our products.


  • Manage an international team of simulation engineers
  • Train and mentor simulation engineers in latest technologies and best practices
  • Oversee development of best practices and design guidelines for design engineers
  • Develop and implement a simulation technology roadmap to close capability gaps
  • Create advanced FEA, CFD, and Plant/Mathematical models of hydraulic components, valves, and systems
  • Work with R&D resources to correlate simulation results with test data
  • Collaborate with customers and OEM’s to develop high fidelity component and system models
  • Provide design feedback and performance insight to design engineering teams
  • Guide valve/system controller development with simulation engineers and customers



Required Skills and Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, master’s degree or higher in simulation engineering preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in industry
  • 2+ years of management experience
  • Experience with Creo 2.0 and higher preferred
  • Familiarity with basic hydraulic and fluid dynamic principles
  • Ability to understand and communicate highly complex technical data from engineering team to other business units
  • Ability to travel 3-4 times per year which could include international travel
  • Familiarity with three of the seven simulation technologies listed: FEA, ANSYS and Creo Simulation preferred
  • CFD, Siemens Star CCM+ preferred
  • Plant/Mathematical modeling, Simscape or AMEsim preferred
  • Fatigue Life Analysis
  • Accelerated Life Testing
  • Simulation/DOE Optimizers
  • Control System Design
